Chris Botti at Vilar Center, Beaver Creek March 3. 2007 part2

Without talking about Sy Smith, it won't be the Chris Botti concert report lately.
Marc sugested his cousin for singer, everyone laughed at, Botti introduces her.
Smooth profesional performance. She's a good dancer, too.

When Chris introduced Sy, the person came out was Jeremy to bring michrophone out. Chris said " Oh, well this is our manager Jeremy, Sy is coming next."

Is that how they planed?

Nancy was complimenting Chris later, while othr band member play, he stays on the stage.

Chris looks others so, we look at them, too.

Laying back is one of my favorite Chris style.

His seranade "My Funny Valentine" is the person he met in the airplane.

He was right there 2 people over from me.

Can't forget it was just Chris and Billy C...
Is he squeezing air out?

Back to full band play.

There's a phrase they play in "Indian Summer" is the same one in "Why Not". I wonder if the part was live show routine.

There were group of people Chris met in the airplane and Chris had a young gentlman sit next to Billy C.

Chris asked him if he knew who Frank Sinatra was. He did not know but that's the encore song.

Chris talks "The most shameful moment."

If "how would you like me to play?" is bad question, "Did you change hair gel?" was pretty awful question and I'm not young.

Thank you Chris for putting up with me.

Great show!!
The Ushers told us there were another way to get out.
Meet and Greet line.
Sy was coming out.
I said I posted in her forum and she remembered.
I saw someone had her CD and she got it there. I walked up to the table but her CD was sold out.
She said each band member come from different cities.
Billy C and Marc were right behind Chris, I did not get talking to them.
This time, I got picture taken with Jeremy. He was nice guy. Before the concert, he asked me " Did you make it up here safely?". That made big difference to watch the show.

I asked Billy K about how he brings arms high..It reminded me of Japanese taiko drums.

He said he did not know about it but he started saying, "oh, but my wife is Japanese." and he started talking to me in Japanese. Hard to stop talking all kind of staff, kids' name etc. He said he's too busy to stay home.

Almost miss talking to Chris.

While I was talking to Billy K, Chris got through line of people and he almost walked away. I called him laud and stop him.

He got some click on and recognized me as the one sent flower and uni.

I put the letter saying I'll give him the flower and uni before the ocncert and Rockyroad after the show.

He asked me "So, where's Rockyroad or whatever candy thing?"

I took out the pint size container of Rockyorad from the bag, I was giving pieces away, Marc and some other. I asked Jeremy if he got this at BlueNote, I sent in mail, Jeremy said "We probably got it but we just eat whatever we can eat. "

He looked a little disapointed it was so little.."Oh, that's it...." kind of sad look.

The way Chris talk about thing reminds me of my boss at work. He read my letter and responded to the contents like my boss in the morning, goes through e-mails, makes phone calles.

I said "there's more in the bag." and pointed out the bag has 4 more containers in.

His face got brightened up like a little boy got snack.

That man is candy crazy.

Here's sad part. I recently requested Chill to play one of Jeff Golub's old song sounds chill.

I put print out of that request e-mail in the letter with flower. Chris said "Oh, you know what. I'm quitting Chill."

The request was too late plus of cause no more Chill....Ah,,,,,

I brought Down Beat to have him sign.

He said "oh, what is this?" I said "that's the one got blidfold test in at Northsea...."

He flipped some pages, turned around and said, "oh, Christian McBride!"

When I was on the line at meet and greet, a lady had geen T-shirt and I talked to her and show mine. She looked at mine and said liked the picture. I sugested to wear it but shesaid she's not that brave.

I forgot to bring night wear and I slept in it.

So, I gave him what I planed to give.

I got autographes.

What about pictures?

I said "I want something spectacular!"

Jeremy imediately said,

"No Kissing!!!"

"I'll just kiss on his cheek, OK?"

So, that's it.

Chris and Jeremy both said

"See you at Red Rocks."

Chris said "Thank you for the flower. Thank you for uni."

It looked like the weather was one day late.
Weather report said "snow on Friday and nice on weekend."
