Gates Concert Hall, Denver Univercity Campus

Cleo Parker Robinson was a guest one day in KUVO. She was a guest in CD104.3 when I was listening to it. She sounded black lady, I guess she has dance school...that's how I remember. KUVO was talking about giving away tickets for the concert. I asked Bruce if he would go and he said yes. I got tickets then, he was not going to go.
I had not been to the venue, Gates concert Hall in DU campus. Dianne Reeve's concert was there. When I noticed, it was sold out. Since Bruce was not going, I took my yougest daughter Mayumi. The campus was nice. I was hoping she inspired and want to come to this school. The conert hall was another block down the street. There were lots of sculptures around the building and inside.

Mayumi said "he's playing for the money!!" I didn't see it but yeah, it make sense.

I thought about what to wear a little bit. While we were on the line to wait the door would be open, Mayumi said, "mom, everyone is wearing like you.". Middle of September, eveyone was enjoying dressing up fall colors.

Before the show, one lady front of us kept turning around and looking at Mayumi. She asked Mayumi's name but she looked disapointed. I asked where the lady saw the girl she thought Mayumi was. She said at Crawford Elementary. I said "she went there. what is the girl's name you were thinking?" She said "Mamie." "That's her sister!" I already guessing that's what she's going to say. This 4th July, I was with Mayumi to see fire works, a boy kept calling her Mamie. Anyway, the lady is Ms Angella, she was organizing afternoon activities at school resouce center. Mamie and another sister, Aya were in the dancing class. It was 7 ears ago.

It has balcony sheets.

Cleo Parker Robinson came on to the stage. She is bi-racial person, so pretty!! She sounds totally black lady. She talked about her parents had hard time back then. Even now, my daughter Aya was telling the other day;

----There's a white boy in my class and he said, "hey, you, the black girl right there.(pointing out Aya) get the map book!!" I said like "What?" He said "I'm a white. You are black so, you have to do things for me." He's like only white boy in a class and the rest are black and Mexican, all looked at him like..he backed up though.--

Unbelievable. It was this school year.

Actual show started and it was way beyond my expectation. This was the first time I've seen jazz dance live. What happens on the stage is big picture. Where dancers are coming cross the stage, positions where they are are perfect composition including depth of stage plus timing of in and out. What a 4th dimentional creation!

Each indivisual dancers are beautiful. Movement, their bodies. They are selected people. trained, working hard.

I want to come back to see their show. I want them to continue this.
