It was rainny night but sure big heat was coming out of stage!!

Rob Mullins

One day, I logged in facebook(it doesn't happen so often) and Rob was talking about he's coming to Denver. Someone added comments wondering when. I found info in his the other page. So, I copied and put comment. Then,

---------------

Rob Mullins Jazz Piano also commented on his status:

"Hi-The time will be 8 p.m. not 2pm, our mistake. Yoshiko, Bijou will be on bass. Looking forward to it! . See you soon!"

-----------------

Hard to ignor the invitation with personal touch.

Bijoux Barbosa

Ooops. I was avoiding Bijoux since he took me off from facebook friend. --- OK, you don't like me then, I don't like you. --- I don't think it's smart move as professional musician. I'd rather go to many other musician's concerts or even I preffer LISTENING music on the radio or CD so that I can do my thing. If I'm not welcomed, why should I waste my time and $ to see the atitude of "I'm plenty busy to back others on stage and studio." and impersonation of dead basist. Without creates own project, not much difference from flipping burgers to make money.

Little roses I brought to Rob

When I was getting in, I noticed Rob was just chilling behind the enterence. After I paid to get in, I walked up to Rob to say hi . I said my name and he said "I know who you are." ...I didn't meet him last year but he said he reads all the e-mails so, I sent one and he saw my pix. Internet power!! "oh, well, this is flower for you." I handed out the flower. He said he would put it by piano. I was thinking just for the table of dressing room or hotel. If I knew he's going to do that I would brought bigger flowers. Well, next time.

Susan of KUVO was MC

Susan had inteview with Rob the other day and he was talking about George Russell passing and his theory. I enjoyed his talk. I wish he talked more this time. Last year's his talk was fun. I don't travel around so, I like out of town musicians show talking about things all over the world and it becomes introduction of the songs.
A while back Victor of KUVO played a song from Jazz Straight Ahead. I was listening and thought "wow, this is smoking hot!!" Victor didn't tell title and artist untill after the song. When he said it's Rob's, I had to call in and tell him how I got excited to hear it. Victor said "you like it ha? " "Yes, very much." "He used to live here and played the club on Leatsdale.." That must have been fun.

Joe Andrews

When Joe was passing by, I said hi to him. I said I was a friend on facebook. He didn't recognized me but he asked me if I was a musician. "no....." but made me think, I should practice some music more often to say "yes." He asked me where I'm from and I said Japan. He started talking in Japanese. He said he's been in Japan 3 times for Sokagakkai and Harbbie Hancook and Tina Turner are 40years members of them. He spoke Japanese better than me. I said " I heard you and Rob performed in KUVO studio earlier this year. That was so good." The sound was so thick but it was just two.

I like how Rob takes rythm with leg like a drumer steps pedal of bass drum or high hat. Very energetic.

Mike Mallier

Another reason I hasitated to go was the weather. So, rainy and I knew this venue doesn't have roof. Last year, a couple by me left early because the wife couldn't stand cold.

This time, I broght an unbrella and here we go it started raining. Intermission, a guy passed me said "you got right thing."

The rain got harder, lots of people started leaving, some moved to the side with a little roof. There were prepeared people with raincoat left but almost the place got empty. I think it's hard to perform to empty seats for the musicians. Even I had an umbrella open, since I was sitting fabric cusion, it must be water proof, water started running to my butt. I moved to the stairs next to the stage under the extention of roof.

The other day, I was looking DU facilities and Mike was in there. I told him I didn't know..he said "yeah, I teach there." I also, told him picture of him look older than him in person, He looks young at Jazz @ Jacks with Nelson. Take those glasses off!!!

At the end, a guy made Rob to make anouncement of next shows. Hay, who's that good looking guy? Why didn't I take pic? Here goes me, "excuse me! Did you say Kirk Whalum?" " umm, yes, I'm working on it.. " "Are you an owner?" " I'm a co-owner with my uncle."

Who ever is coming to the show, if this guy, Thanos hangs around, brighten up the venue. The bouncer looking guy at the door, waitress, bartender, all the people look like actor or stage performar sofisticated appearance.
